Unknown attacker injured Jewish man in face. Details about the incident

A Jewish man suffered a near-fatal anti-Semitic attack in Brooklyn on October 28, an incident the NYPD is investigating as a hate crime.

The Jewish man named Sadya Liberow was slashed in the face as he walked along the intersection of Flatbush and Lafayette avenues.

Liberow, a father of two daughters under the age of three, was approached by a masked man who shouted “F*** you boys,” which Liberow said was an obvious reference to Jews. The attacker cut Liberov’s face with a blade before leaving the scene.

After the attacker left, Liberov called 911 and Hatzalah himself, then took off his shirt and tied it around his face to stop the bleeding, his mother, Nechama, said Jerusalem Post.

Sayda Liberow called the attack on him a “vicious act of hate” that was another in a “disturbing increase in Jew hate crimes in our city, our state and our country.”

“I trust that the NYPD Hate Crime Unit will approach this case with the seriousness it deserves and hopefully arrest the anti-Jewish masked individual before other Jews are targeted and attacked,” he added.

Liberov needed 18 internal and external stitches and two hours of facial plastic surgery to close the wound, which stretches from the corner of his mouth to his ear, Nechama said the Jerusalem Post. She added that her son now has difficulty speaking and sleeping and cannot eat solid food for several days.

“I was walking down the street to go to the Apple Store and instead I got slashed in the face,” Liberow told NBC New York. “I felt the blood running down my face.”

Liberov’s mother Nechama told NBC: “[the attacker] I came up to my son and said, “Damn, guys. We are ‘people’. ‘People’ is the Jewish community. I cannot remain silent while so many Jews are being attacked.”

Attacker has yet to be identified

In her conversation with the post, Nechama thanked the NYPD Hate Crime Unit for their assistance in finding the attacker, but noted the challenges facing the investigation team as the attacker was fully masked, wearing a puffy coat and was almost completely covered up to the eyes , meaning he has not yet been identified.
