Arrest made after shooting of Nashville woman as police search for second suspect

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – An arrest has been made in the shooting death of a woman in a Nashville apartment, and the search for the second suspect is ongoing.

According to Metro Nashville Police, 27-year-old Jon Hamilton was arrested Monday evening and charged with felony murder in the death of 35-year-old Kianna Cayetano.

Police said Cayetano was shot the morning of Oct. 27 at an apartment on Apace Trail in Antioch.

According to the affidavit, officers received a call from a neighbor about the shooting. That neighbor told officers that his neighbor knocked on his door and said his girlfriend had been shot during an attempted robbery.

Officers found Cayetano unresponsive and she was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The affidavit describes video footage from the apartment complex that shows two people, one appearing to be wearing an Islamic religious cloak, parking a car in front of the victim’s apartment and then walking to the other side of the apartment complex, officials said.

According to the officer’s report, the two then changed cars and drove to another building within the same complex.

From there, both suspects got out of the car and walked to Cayetano’s apartment. A short time later, the suspects are seen fleeing the building. A suspect gets into the car parked at another building and drives away. The second suspect, wearing the religious cloak, emerges from behind the buildings and appears to be going into an apartment in another building.

While speaking with residents of the complex, officers learned that a person who lived at the complex and went by the nickname “Ace” or “Pun” was responsible for the shooting. Investigators were able to identify “Ace” as Jon Hamilton, according to the affidavit.

Officers said they interviewed the victim’s boyfriend and he told officers he had set up cameras in the apartment and allowed investigators to review the video.

The video showed victim Cayetano letting the two suspects into the apartment while her boyfriend slept on the couch. Hamilton is seen in the video as the person wearing the cape.

Cayetano, Hamilton and the unknown suspect appear to be having a conversation, but as Cayetano turns to grab what police believe to be a notepad, the unknown suspect pulls out a gun, knocking Cayetano to the ground and holds her at gunpoint.

Hamilton lunges at Cayetano’s friend and she tries to walk towards her while the unknown suspect tries to hold her back. As this suspect tries to pull her away, the suspect shoots her in the back. Officers said the video showed Hamilton and the unknown suspect running away when Cayetano pulled out a gun.

According to the arrest report, Cayetano’s friend had a three-inch wound on his neck that police said appeared to have been caused by someone holding a knife to his throat.

In addition to felony murder, Hamilton is also charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Homicide investigators are still looking for the second suspect in this case.
