Beyoncé stars as Pamela Anderson in Election Day music video | Beyonce

Beyoncé stars in her first music video since 2021, starring as Pamela Anderson and urging Americans to vote.

The video’s soundtrack, titled “Beywatch,” is taken from “Bodyguard,” a track from her country album “Cowboy Carter,” which was released in March. It bears the headline – somewhat belatedly – “Happy Beylloween”, but is also intended to be published when Americans go to the polls.

Beyoncé wears a platinum blonde wig and dresses up as Anderson’s characters from Baywatch and Barb Wire. In one scene, Beyoncé holds up a toy gun and fires a flag that says “Vote!” on it.

Beyoncé has already expressed her feelings about who voters should vote for. She allowed Kamala Harris to use her song “Freedom” as the soundtrack for her campaign and then officially endorsed her at a rally in Houston in October. She described Harris to the 30,000-strong crowd as “a woman who stands up for what this country really needs.” Right now…I’m here as a mother who cares deeply about the world in which my children and everyone our children live, a world in which we have the freedom to control our bodies, a world in which we are not divided – our past, our present, our future meet us here.”

The Pamela Anderson outfit is actually Beyoncé’s fourth costume of the Halloween season, having previously been photographed as Betty Davis and then as characters from the film Purple Rain, as originally played by Prince and Apollonia Kotero.

Beyoncé has directed or co-directed several of her music videos, while videos for songs like “Formation” and “Single Ladies” are among the most iconic in recent pop culture.

However, some fans were frustrated by the lack of videos for her last two album projects, “Cowboy Carter” and “Renaissance”, particularly because elaborate visuals were created for the latter’s world tour but were never used in music videos. Instead, Beyoncé wrote and directed a documentary/concert film hybrid that accompanied the tour’s preparations and performances.
