“Predator Proof” solves another crime in Wilmington: police

WILMINGTON – Wilmington Police announced 33-year-old Matthew Naughton of Wilmington is now in the Will County Jail, facing charges of soliciting a meeting with a minor and charges of traveling to meet a minor thanks to the help of the group Predator Proof.

On Saturday around 7:30 p.m., Wilmington officers were called to the Mar Theater in downtown Wilmington on reports that a man had traveled there to meet a 15-year-old girl. The man, Naughton, was instead greeted by members of the Facebook page “Predator Proof” who were operating a fake account on a dating app, police said.

Wilmington police found Naughton, and he was later arrested and taken to the Will County Jail.

“We would like to thank Predator Proof for their assistance in this investigation and providing the requested evidence,” the Wilmington Police Department’s Facebook page said.

Tuesday was Naughton’s third day in the Will County Jail. Jail records show he is from the 500 block of East Kankakee River Drive.
