Fatal traffic accident on I-75 | Local News

UPDATE: A 20-year-old man was killed in a traffic accident on I-75 around 3 a.m., Chattanooga police said.

The man was driving a Ford Excursion southbound on northbound I-75 and crashed into a Dodge Ram at mile marker 2.4, seriously injuring a 32-year-old man.

After the initial impact, the Dodge Ram was struck a second time by a tractor-trailer, CPD said.

The Chattanooga Fire Department and Hamilton County EMS responded to the call, with the wrong-way driver pronounced dead at the scene.

Sergeant. Victor Miller confirmed that this wrong-way crash caused the closure of northbound I-75 Tuesday morning.

This information is preliminary as the investigation is ongoing.
