Everett, MA: Drug Investigation on Gledhill Ave. near school – NBC Boston

A man was arrested a day after a report of drug-making chemicals being dumped in the Everett, Massachusetts, area led to a hazardous materials investigation that led to the closure of a neighborhood.

Crews worked Monday to secure the home on Gledhill Avenue, about a block from Everett High School. Authorities released limited information that day, but the city said the investigation was “in response to a report of an individual disposing of chemicals related to the manufacture of illegal narcotics at multiple locations throughout the city.”

On Tuesday, police and Mayor Carlo DeMaria said 33-year-old Alexander Yaksic of Everett was arrested on a federal probation warrant, adding that he was charged with “numerous drug offenses.”

Authorities worked much of the day Monday to remove chemicals from a home in Everett.

Authorities added that police discovered a laboratory containing ingredients for making ecstasy.

The investigation began Wednesday with a crash on Wilbur Street, city officials said Tuesday. Police found a substance at the scene and sent it to a crime lab for analysis.

The police determined that there was no criminal activity and no threat to public safety. But on Sunday and Monday, police received reports of a person discarding “unknown substances” at several locations in Everett.
