According to the FAA, there were five passengers on board

According to authorities, five people were on board a plane that crashed in Arizona on Tuesday evening.

A jet, a Honda HA-420, crashed near Falcon Field Airport in the Phoenix suburb of Mesa shortly before 5 p.m., striking a vehicle, according to a statement from the Federal Aviation Administration.

According to the FAA, there were five passengers on board the plane. Initially, no information could be given about the condition of the passengers or the extent of their injuries.

The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the cause of the crash.

Plane crash paralyzes traffic for hours

Emergency vehicles, including local police and fire departments, blocked the road in front of the airport in the hours after the accident.

“We are investigating a plane crash at Greenfield and McKellips Road in Mesa,” Mesa police said in an X post at 5:05 p.m. local time. “The entire area will be closed for several hours. Please look for an alternative route.”

Officials did not provide any information about the accident or injuries, but flames and smoke could be seen.
