At Howard University’s wake party, the mood was darker. Cedric Richmond, co-chair of the Harris-Walz campaign, announced around 1 a.m. ET that the vice president would not be speaking at Howard University that evening.

“We still have to count votes. There are still states that have not yet been called. We will continue to fight overnight to ensure every vote is counted and every voice has spoken,” Richmond said.

He added that Harris would instead speak at Howard University on Wednesday morning.
