Rumor: Latest “Resident Evil 9” leaks are supposed to reveal main characters and first story details

resident Evil Fans have struggled with no-shows when it comes to no-shows Resident Evil 9 with the big gaming events this year, despite the abundance of rumors circulating. The latest crop comes courtesy of Andy at Biohazard Declassified (with JJ from Residence of Evil, reporting in the video below), who says the latest leaks were relayed by a playtester who claims to have played an early version of the game in Japan sometime in April and September.

With things like this, it’s of course worth always having your salt to hand. None of this has been officially confirmed by Capcom or anyone (obviously). Resident Evil 9 Team. Furthermore, these rumors are definitely in spoiler territory. So here we go.

According to Andy, Resident Evil 9 will take place 4 years after the main game of Resident Evil Villageand not that Shadow of the rose DLC. The story will apparently focus on Leon and Jill traveling to an island to investigate the company that Eveline founded Resident Evil 7who are now creating mass clones of the bioweapon Eveline using the megamycete provided by Miranda Resident Evil Village.

A little drawing Resident Evil 4Jill and Leon are infected by the megamycete and experience hallucinations and hear Eveline’s voice during the game. In addition, there will be someone chasing Leon throughout the game, while Jill is being hunted by the so-called “Goat Man”.

Filming locations for RE9 include an abandoned hospital, caves, abandoned houses, laboratories, dark forests and a temple. The main enemy will be an evolved zombie similar to the Ganados of Resident Evil 4 Remake.

The game’s main villain will be a man named Mr. Simon, an entirely new character who oversees the mass production of bioweapons on the island. Blue Umbrella will also return as the “good guys.”

As you’ve probably already guessed, Leon Kennedy and Jill Valentine will return as the main playable protagonists. However, they will be joined by Chris Redfield and Barry Burton as supporting characters through radio calls.

Speaking of Jill, her appearance will be similar to her appearance Lost in nightmares DLC by Resident Evil 5while Leon will look similar to his appearance Resident Evil: Damnation. Age-wise, Jill will remain the same, but Leon will have a grayer, rougher appearance.

Once again, this is all just based on rumors. There’s hope that Capcom will reveal at least some new information (read: a teaser) at the 2024 Game Awards next month, but even that is speculation. As always, we’ll just have to wait and keep expectations in check.
