Man arrested for driving under the influence and death in Upshur County

BUCKHANNON, W.Va (WDTV) – A man has been arrested after a car accident in Buckhannon killed one person over the weekend.

According to Buckhannon police, Joshua Foster, 33, was drunk when he collided with another vehicle around 3 a.m. Saturday on Liggett Addition, just off Route 33, near the Pizza Hut.

The driver of the second vehicle was killed in the collision, police said.

When police arrived on scene, Foster’s vehicle was empty and a witness told police he drove off behind the Pizza Hut. Moments later, Foster approached police and admitted to driving the vehicle.

Foster told police that he drank alcohol before driving to “clear his head.” He then began stumbling and was taken to an ambulance that took him to St. Joseph’s Hospital, according to court documents.

At the hospital, a breathalyzer showed Foster’s BAC was 0.242.

Foster is currently being held at the Tygart Valley Regional Jail on a $500,000 bond.
