The emergency landing at Alliance Airport ends without incident

An in-flight emergency involving a single-engine aircraft that lost power ended without incident or injuries Wednesday morning in Alliance.

Airport Director Lynn Placek said the plane, carrying four people and only 60 pounds of fuel, lost power around 8:30 a.m. and threatened to shut down the engine, forcing the pilot to notify the Denver FAA Center, which then monitored the response Alliance coordinated fire, police and airport maintenance personnel.

Several first responders were stationed at the airport for the aircraft’s emergency landing, which took place without further incident, and all units were cleared by 8:40 a.m

Placek and Fire Chief Troy Shoemaker both said citizen safety was their top priority and both were pleased the incident occurred without harm to the pilot or the public.
