Barcelona 5-2 Red Star (November 6, 2024) Match analysis

Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski scored a goal in each half to help them to a comfortable 5-2 win at Red Star Belgrade in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Defender Inigo Martinez opened the scoring in the 13th minute with a close-range header from a Raphinha free-kick, but Silas overcame Barca’s aggressive offside trap and equalized 14 minutes later with a neat finish after a quick counter-attack.

Lewandowski fired home a rebound from a Raphinha shot in the 43rd minute and extended Barca’s lead eight minutes into the second half with a first goal from a cross from Jules Kounde.

The French full-back also set up Raphinha for Barca’s fourth goal and provided his third assist in the 76th minute, putting the ball on a plate for Fermin Lopez to score Barca’s fifth goal from inside the box before Substitute Milson reduced the deficit for the home team to 84.

The win lifted Barcelona to sixth in the 36-team Champions League table with nine points, while Red Star sit in 35th with no points after four games.
