Champions League: Atlético leaves PSG in trouble as Musiala revives Bayern | Champions League

Paris Saint GermainTheir disappointing Champions League campaign continued on Wednesday as they suffered a last-minute 2-1 home defeat Atletico Madrid This left the Ligue 1 leaders in the elimination zone.

Warren Zaïre-Emery’s opener was quickly canceled out by Nahuel Molina in the first half of a largely disappointing game that ended with Ángel Correa scoring the winner three minutes into stoppage time.

With four points from as many games, PSG sit 25th in the 36-team league, six points behind Ligue 1 colleagues Monaco and Brest, while Atléti moved out of the red zone with six points.

PSG next traveled to Bayern Munich and RB Salzburg and once again they had to squander their missed chances.

“We tried and tried until the last minute,” said PSG midfielder Vitinha. “Unfortunately we conceded a goal at the last chance. Would it be easier with a real center forward? Well, you never know. That’s our game plan. We’ll get better at it.”

Bavaria recovered from the 4-1 defeat in Barcelona in their last Champions League game with a 1-0 home win against Barcelona Benfica Thanks to Jamal Musiala’s ball header. The German midfielder scored from close range in the 67th minute. Bayern dominated the game and missed several chances before breaking the stalemate. This result catapults Bayern to 17th place, while Benfica, who were toothless in attack, are also in 19th place with six points.

Robert Lewandowski struck twice Barcelona drove to a 5-2 win against Red Star Belgrade in Serbia. The Polish striker scored his 17th and 18th goals of the season in his 16th game and scored his 98th in the Champions League, giving Barçca their seventh consecutive win in all competitions. Red Star striker Silas canceled out Iñigo Martínez’s header, but Lewandowski restored Barça’s lead before half-time, adding his second goal before Raphinha and Fermín López added sparkle. Milson provided a late consolation but Barça’s third straight win in this season’s new-look competition lifted them to sixth place.

BrestThe impressive start to life in the Champions League continued with a 2-1 win Sparta Prague. Edimilson Fernandes put Brest under control and Kaan Kairinen’s own goal gave them some breathing room before Victor Olatunji scored a consolation goal for Sparta in stoppage time.

Goals earned in the second half by Ademola Lookman and Nicolò Zaniolo Atalanta a 2-0 win Stuttgart and the Italian team has yet to concede a goal in this season’s competition. The opening goal came in the 51st minute when Lookman tapped in Charles De Ketelaere’s cross and Zaniolò scored the decisive second goal two minutes from time as the home side struggled to get through. The defeat ended Stuttgart’s impressive home record, having not lost a game in any competition for over a year, while Atalanta are now unbeaten in their last eight games.

RB Salzburg celebrated their first win, 3-1 in the 10-man game Feyenoord. Karim Konate scored goals for Salzburg on either side of the break before VAR turned Feyenoord midfielder Chris-Kévin Nadje’s yellow card into a red. The home team hit back through Anis Hadj-Moussa, but Daouda Guindo restored Salzburg’s two-goal lead.

The Ukrainian champion, Shakhtar Donetskrecorded their first win, 2-1 against Young boys at the home game in Gelsenkirchen. The Young Boys are currently at the bottom of the league, having lost all of their first four games.
