Samsung Galaxy S25+ leak will frustrate the community

With the excitement surrounding Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S25 release, the community was ready for the South Korean company to go all-in on Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and offer every S25, S25+ and S25 Ultra with the advanced system-on-chip . Unfortunately, the latest benchmarking results may frustrate many in Europe.

The European variant of the Galaxy S25+ has appeared on popular benchmarking site Geekbench. This shouldn’t be a surprise; Most smartphones, tablets and laptops undergo online testing and are displayed on these websites. What will surprise is the benchmarking hardware report.

Instead of Qualcomm’s recently released Snapdragon 8 Elite, the S25+ runs Samsung’s own Exynos 2500 chipset.

Galaxy S25 specs breakdown

While the benchmarking refers to an unreleased handset and the specifications are subject to change, given the expected launch in around two months it is likely that this is release hardware – although the software is still going through an optimization process for greater performance and efficiency to reach . The same applies to the Galaxy S models with the Snapdragon 8 Elite, but these chipsets outperform the models equipped with Exynos.

With the current Galaxy S24 phones split between the two silicon variants, it was clear that the Snapdragon phones offer greater power efficiency with improved graphics performance… key reasons why the community was excited to see Snapdragon 8 Elite unified across the lineup.

The Galaxy S25 and Galaxy AI

At the launch event in January, probably called Galaxy Unpacked, there will also be the first major update for Galaxy AI in 2025. While part of the AI suite is server-based, a key component runs on mobile, placing performance and efficiency at the forefront. Samsung took an early lead in generative AI on smartphones with last year’s Galaxy S24 family, and the S25 cohort is expected to expand that reach. The additional performance of the Snapdragon 8 Elite compared to the Eynosys 2500 is perhaps more noticeable on this top-of-the-line model than on any other device in the Galaxy’s back catalog.
