The final Android 16 release date is already known months before release and is expected to be announced months before the Pixel 10 release

Google wants to make some changes to accommodate its early Android 16 release plans. This year, the company launched the Pixel 9 series two months early, but it saw fit to release Android 15 for all compatible models almost two months later in October. Even though it was a scary move for the company, it now plans to release Android 16 much earlier than expected.

Google will release Android 16 much earlier than this year to give the new Pixels a fresh start

Accordingly AndroidHeadlinesGoogle will release Android 16 sooner than expected and although the company has not revealed the exact dates, there are some speculations that could be considered plausible. We expect Google to release the Android 16 update alongside the Pixel 10 series next year, which will allow the new devices to be refreshed at the hardware and software levels.

According to sources, Google will release Android 16 on June 3rd. The AOSP build of the update will be released on the same day as the OTA for all Pixel devices, at least two to three months earlier than the company’s typical timeline. According to Google, the main reason for delaying the release earlier than usual is to port the software to new devices launching in the fall. This means the company’s devices launching in July, August and September will receive an Android 16 update on day one.

Once the company has deployed the first build of Android 16, it will release another build later in the year that will bring performance improvements and under-the-hood changes for a smooth user experience. These point updates are released specifically for AI so developers can quickly take advantage of the new APIs and features.

Google urgently needed to update its release schedule for various updates and devices. For example, the Pixel’s launch was too close to the holiday season, which could impact post-launch sales. In addition, the launch was closer to the iPhone launch, which could have brought the devices into a direct comparison.

Since Android 16 is released a month or two before the Pixel 10 launches, it would have fewer bugs at launch because the company would have already fixed the underlying issues. It remains to be seen what other changes we can expect from Google in terms of the release schedule and whether these will impact the functionality of Android 16. This is because the company would have fewer months to develop the update than last year. We’ll keep you updated, so stay tuned.
