It’s a non-conference battle on the college hardwood as a member of the Horizon League speaks out against someone from the CAA in the First State. “Robert Morris is trying to record the season at all”

Robert Morris opened their season when they were defeated on the road by West Virginia in Morgantown in Darian DeVries’ first game as the Mountaineers’ coach. The Colonials are 0-1 this season and are looking to bounce back and even their record. Against West Virginia, Robert Morris struggled to slow down the Mountaineers’ offense and had trouble knocking down shots of his own, sending them to defeat. The Colonials trailed 46-26 at halftime and, despite a better performance in the second half, never made a sustained attempt to get back into the game. To be successful, you need a better offensive performance than on Monday evening.

In the game, Robert Morris was limited to 32.4% of his shots from the floor, including six of 24 from three-point range, and allowed West Virginia to shoot 55% in the contest. The Colonials managed to win the rebounding battle 41-37, knocking down 16 offensive boards but turning the ball over 13 times. Josh Omojafo was the only player in double figures for Robert Morris as he scored 13 points, seven of which came in the charity stripe. He shot just three of nine balls from the ground in the contest. DJ Smith and Ismael Plet scored eight points each, while Kam Woods contributed seven points, although he was a completely ineffective factor from a shooting perspective, missing 13 of his 16 shots from the floor.

Shooting blue hens to regroup at home

Delaware struggled but was defeated by Bucknell in its season opener at home on Monday night. The Blue Hens are hoping to regroup here at home to get back into the win column and put their stamp on the young season. Against Bucknell, Delaware had control of the game in the first half, but their offense seemed to hit a wall after halftime, allowing the Bison to rally, regroup and take control of the game. The Blue Hens just seemed to run out of answers in the second half as Bucknell brought the hammer down on them to erase a nine-point halftime deficit.

In the contest, the Blue Hens led 46-37 at halftime and even had a twelve-point lead in the game, but trailed off in the second half. Delaware was outscored 48-27 in the second half of the game and ultimately had to admit defeat. The Blue Hens shot 42.2% in the contest, including eight of 26 from three-point range, and lost the rebounding battle by a 40-32 margin. Delaware allowed Bucknell to shoot 52.7% from the field, including 10 of 19 from distance, and was dominated 38-18 in the contest. Erik Timko led three players in double figures for the Blue Hens and scored 20 points in the loss. John Camden contributed 19 points while Niels Lane contributed 16 in the contest. The problem for the Blue Hens is that the rest of the team combined to score just 18 points in 108 minutes of play. That includes just nine points from the bench over 57 combined minutes. They’ll have to be better than what we’ve seen for the Blue Hens to succeed.

Best bets for Robert Morris vs. Delaware

Side bet for the entire game

Insider status:

Evaluation:

Both teams had their problems in their opening games and will hope to regroup here. Delaware had a double-digit lead against Bucknell before taking the lead in the second half, and expect them to have a better performance from their bench than they did in the opener. Robert Morris struggled to shoot the ball with any degree of consistency in the opener against West Virginia, while Woods struggled to shoot the ball with any degree of success. The Colonials will stay in the game thanks to their rebounding abilities, but the fact that Delaware has a trio of players who can put up points and the fact that they are at home gives them the upper hand in this contest.

Prediction: Delaware Blue Hens -5

Overall selection for the entire game

Robert Morris exceeded the point total in his season opening game. The Colonials and Mountaineers combined for 146 points, exceeding the set total of 143.5 points for this contest. Robert Morris gave the Mountaineers an effective field goal percentage of 66.7%, which needs improvement here. Delaware also surpassed the total in its season-opening loss. Delaware allowed an effective field goal rate of 61.8% in the game, including 10 of 19 from long range. Look for both teams to put up a decent amount of offensive prowess and excel in this game.
