One in critical condition after a head-on crash in Summit County

PARK CITY – One person is in critical condition following a head-on collision between two vehicles Wednesday evening.

According to Cpl, three vehicles were reportedly traveling on State Route 248 in Summit County on Wednesday evening when two of them collided head-on. Jared Heywood of the Utah Highway Patrol.

According to Park City, the accident occurred east of Highway 40 and Browns Canyon.

According to UHP, a gray SUV was traveling westbound and two vehicles were traveling eastbound at the same location.

“For a currently unknown reason, the gray SUV traveling westbound left its lane, crossed into oncoming traffic, struck a white SUV and collided head-on with a red passenger car,” a news release said.

The two occupants of the gray SUV were reportedly taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

The driver, the sole occupant of the red vehicle, was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.

According to the release, the occupants of the white SUV suffered no injuries.

The road is closed in both directions. The Utah Department of Transportation estimated the closure would last until midnight

The identities of the people involved were not known at the time of publication.
