The video shows moments before the fatal crash on I-17 in Phoenix

PHOENIX (AZFamily) – Traffic cameras captured the moments leading up to a fatal wrong-way crash on I-17 in central Phoenix early Thursday morning.

According to the Department of Public Safety, officers responded around 2 a.m. to a report of a wrong-way driver on I-17 near Indian School Road. Traffic cameras captured a Prius driver traveling northbound and traveling southbound on the highway.

The wrong-way driver continued onto Grant Street, where she crashed head-on into a black Camry. The wrong-way driver was killed, and a man and a woman in the Camry were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Authorities later confirmed that the passenger in the right-of-way vehicle was killed.

The northbound lanes were closed but reopened before rush hour.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
