Susie Wiles, the “ice cream baby,” is a top contender to become Trump’s chief of staff, sources say

Speculation is growing that Susie Wiles, a veteran political activist who worked closely with President-elect Trump during his campaign, could take a top position in his new administration.

Sources within Trump’s transition team and others close to the former president’s campaign confirmed to Fox News that Wiles is reportedly the front-runner to become White House chief of staff – the person who oversees the president’s executive office.

During his victory celebration late Tuesday evening in West Palm Beach, Florida, Trump particularly thanked Wiles for her outstanding role throughout the campaign.

“Let me also express my deep appreciation for Susie [Wiles] and Chris [LaCivita]the work you have done. “Susie, come on, Susie,” Trump said, inviting her to the microphone, but Wiles declined to comment.

“Susie prefers to stay in the background, I can tell you that. The ice baby. We call her the ice baby. Susie likes to stay in the background. She’s not in the background,” Trump added. “Thanks, Susie.”

NBC News also reported that Wiles is considered a leading candidate to become Trump’s chief of staff. Two sources close to Trump’s political circle did not deny Fox News reporting.

Wiles’ decades-long political career dates back to his work as a campaign planner for former President Reagan’s 1980 presidential bid.

Wiles managed several campaigns throughout her political career, including former Utah Governor Jon Huntsman Jr.’s presidential campaign and Florida Senator Rick Scott’s run for Senate.

The Florida-based consultant successfully led operations for Trump’s 2016 and 2020 campaigns in the Sunshine State, contributing to his victories in Florida in both elections. Between presidential elections, Wiles supported Ron DeSantis in his bid for governor in 2018.

Wiles currently serves as a senior adviser to Trump and is campaign co-chair alongside Chris LaCivita.

Former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy was previously considered a possible candidate for chief of staff, but only recently told “The Guy Benson Show” that he would not accept the position if it were offered to him.

“People always ask me if I’m going to be chief of staff – no, I won’t… that’s a no,” he said.
