Ex-North Miami Beach officer appears in court after being accused of having child abuse videos

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Florida — Former North Miami Beach deputy city manager David Scott wore an anti-suicide vest as he appeared in court Thursday to answer 15 felony charges after Miami police said he had more than two dozen Images and videos showing child sexual abuse.

Authorities arrested Scott, 63, on Wednesday. He was released soon afterwards.

According to police, the investigation began more than a year ago after Scott uploaded the illegal content to a cloud server account.

They said after executing a search warrant, they found 15 videos on his cellphone showing victims – mostly boys ages 2 to 10 – being raped or otherwise sexually abused by men.

Authorities said he attempted to purchase 6,000 images of children being sexually abused through social media platforms.

Miami-Dade Judge Mindy Glazer ordered Scott held on $18,000 bond. Scott said he couldn’t afford a lawyer after his release, so he was represented by a public defender.

If he posts bail, he must wear a GPS monitor and not have unsupervised access to children.
