Natchitoches man arrested on drug and weapons charges

NATCHITOCEHS PARISH, La. (CALF) – The Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office reported Nov. 7 that a Natchitoches man was arrested following a traffic stop on Highway 6-East near Payne Subdivision.

According to NPSO, officers were patrolling the area around noon Thursday when they stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation.

Officers said they smelled marijuana when they spoke to the driver, identified as Treyvon Beavers, 19, of Natchitoches. Officers then said they saw a partially burned stump inside the vehicle.

The officers then searched the vehicle and discovered, among other things, approximately 24 grams of suspected marijuana and a pistol without a serial number. All were confiscated as evidence.

Beavers was reportedly arrested without incident, taken to LaSalle Corrections Center-Natchitoches Parish and charged with the following:

  • Possession of marijuana
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm during a drug offense
  • Traffic fees

Beavers reportedly remains in jail awaiting bail.
