Dutch and Israeli officials condemned a series of attacks on Israeli soccer fans in Amsterdam overnight.

Maccabi Tel Aviv supporters were attacked in the capital while their team was in the city for their Europa League game against Ajax.

Police in Amsterdam have arrested at least 57 people.

Footage shared on social media shows a series of violent attacks on Israelis on the streets and break-ins at hotels apparently looking for Maccabi fans.

Even before the game there had been trouble between Maccabi fans and pro-Palestinian demonstrators. Fans reportedly set off fireworks and tore down a Palestinian flag on a nearby street.

Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof condemned the “anti-Semitic attacks,” while Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said two “rescue planes” would be sent to Amsterdam to collect affected fans.
