Warriors unveil clever fan giveaway for Klay Thompson’s return to Chase Center

Dallas Mavericks winger Klay Thompson will return to the Bay Area on Tuesday when the Mavericks take on the Golden State Warriors.

In anticipation of his return to Chase Center, there will be a special Thompson-themed gift for fans, and it’s certainly a pretty clever ode to the late Warriors star.

Chase Center will distribute nautical captain’s hats to honor “Captain Klay,” according to an announcement from the team Friday.

Thompson, of course, often commuted to Chase Center on his boat, and he even wore a San Francisco Giants captain’s hat during the 2022 championship parade, when the Warriors won the NBA title over the Boston Celtics.

Thompson formed a formidable three-point shooting duo with star Steph Curry at Golden State, where they were aptly nicknamed the “Splash Brothers” for the incredible shooting prowess they displayed for years with the Warriors. The duo won four NBA titles together and, alongside Draymond Green, were one of the cornerstones of the Warriors dynasty franchise.

It will be a big welcome for Thompson when he plays against the Warriors for the first time next week.
