Auburn Basketball diverts plane after reported fight

Did anyone say college basketball season has started?

Well, it started earlier this week, but there was already some early season drama on Friday night.

Auburn was on a team plane that was scheduled to travel to Houston for Saturday’s game against the Cougars. However, when the plane took off, it had to turn around after around 45 minutes of flight.

Jeff Goodman of The Field of 68 reported that “there was unrest between players on the flight that could have escalated into a fight.”

Goodman later said a source told him there was an argument.

Goodman added that Auburn is still expected to fly to Houston on Friday, but on a different flight.

FOX6 WBRC anchor and reporter Jonathan Hardison reported that they obtained audio recordings of the flight and that it appeared to be a fight between multiple players.

With the college basketball season just a week into the season, it will be interesting to see if storylines can continue as they did last week.

Still, Auburn is expected to play Houston at the Toyota Center on Saturday night at 9:30 p.m. ET on ESPNU.
