Auburn’s basketball flight turns around as players fight on the plane

When Flight Club meets Fight Club.

The No. 11 Auburn Tigers basketball program experienced something of a skirmish in the air while the team was traveling on the team plane to Houston – home of the No. 4 team in the country, according to multiple reports.

WBRC in Alabama reported that the team struggled during the flight and the plane was diverted a few minutes after takeoff in the afternoon.

The pilot was asked about the “level of threat” that required an emergency landing, to which he responded, “We have a lot of basketball players fighting.”

According to FlightAware, the plane returned to Auburn about 40 minutes after takeoff.

Basketball analyst John Goodman added that there was “shenanigans between players” on the flight.

ESPN reported that the issue was resolved on the flight before anything “serious” happened.

Auburn posted the caption “Takeoff” with a rocket emoji before the flight, which sparked some jokes on social media.

Auburn is 1-0 this season after defeating Vermont in the season opener on Wednesday.
