2. Game status of starters vs. 76ers revealed

The Los Angeles Lakers face the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday evening looking to end their two-game losing streak. The Lakers went 1-4 on their five-game road trip and now enter this game with a record of 4-4.

The good mood from the 3-0 start to the season has evaporated and Los Angeles is now trying to get back on track. Los Angeles should at least have a health advantage against the 76ers, as Philadelphia will be without star Joel Embiid and guard Tyrese Maxey.

The Lakers had several players listed on the injury report for that game, including Anthony Davis, Rui Hachimura, Jaxson Hayes, Christian Wood and Jarred Vanderbilt. Both Vanderbilt and Wood remain out of the lineup as they recover from various surgeries they have undergone.

But Davis and Hayes were listed as probable for the game. Hachimura was listed as questionable. But now we know that both Davis and Hayes will compete.

As for Hachimura, he will finally be back in action for this game.

Davis was dealing with a nagging foot injury, but there was always hope that he would play against the 76ers. The problem caused him to miss the team’s final game against the Memphis Grizzlies.

ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania recently reported an update on Davis.

“The Lakers hope Anthony Davis plays against the 76ers on ESPN on Friday.” Charania said. “This is a nagging foot injury for him, a heel injury that he has been struggling with since the end of last season. Over the summer has [he] played with it at the Olympics. And they are confident that there is nothing structurally wrong, but [it’s] something he has to deal with as far as pain tolerance goes and they’re hoping that the 24, 48 hours without that foot will help him get through tomorrow.

Hachimura also missed the last game due to illness. He did well for the Lakers at the start of the year and showed more energy on the court than in the past.

He averaged 13.6 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game. Hachimura has also shot 57.1 percent from beyond the 3-point line this year.

Los Angeles has a winnable game against a struggling 76ers team, so they need to take advantage. They play the next three games at home before heading back on the road for the start of this year’s NBA Cup.
