Cole Hauser is interested in continuing Yellowstone with Rip and Beth

The long-awaited end of Yellowstone is coming this weekend – but there are some hints that this may not be the end.

The hit series last aired at the end of 2022, with the first half of the fifth season; Two years later, the second half is about to be released, after a series of delays that included star Kevin Costner’s exit from the series. Paramount Network had previously announced that the show would end with the remaining episodes of the fifth season, but there were recent reports that a sixth season was in discussion with stars Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser.

At the series premiere in New York on Thursday, Hauser commented on and reflected on the end of season five The Hollywood Reporter“You never know if it’s going to end or not, so we’ll see.” But I think something [creator] Taylor [Sheridan] wrote and the way he kind of summed the whole thing up is wonderful and when it ends, it ends. It was a great run, it was one of my favorite jobs.”

When it comes to his and Reilly’s characters, playing married fan favorites Rip Wheeler and Beth Dutton, he added, “You can go on and on about these two. For them there are no walls and no borders. As long as Taylor wants to write something special, I know Kelly and I would be interested.”

The show’s other stars – whose journey with the series may actually be over – were a little more pensive after filming the highly secretive episodes with edited scripts and storylines so muted that the crew wasn’t even told everything.

“I’m glad we were able to finish the show – there were a lot of obstacles, we had COVID seasons and strike seasons and Kevin wasn’t there,” admitted Luke Grimes, who plays Kayce Dutton. “It’s a miracle we were able to finish the show. That’s nice, but I’m also going to miss a lot of these people.”

Grimes also expressed support for continuing without Costner’s John Dutton, admitting: “It’s hard to imagine the show without him. But that’s where the show always went. The question was: Can these kids do it without him? So we all knew it was going to happen, we just didn’t know how or when, and obviously it wasn’t what we thought. But what it did was elevate the show to a 10 and now it’s all starting to unravel.” Wes Bentley, who plays Jamie Dutton, reiterated: “We miss him, he’s a huge part of the show and a great guy that you can have around you.”

As for the second half of the season, which premieres Sunday at 8 p.m. on Paramount Network (followed by an encore on CBS at 10 p.m.), Kelsey Asbille, who plays Monica Dutton, promises: “It’s a perfect ending, a deserved ending .” for all characters. I’m really excited and proud of the work we’ve done this season.”
