The best Veterans Day deals and discounts, according to Veterans

Veterans Day is just around the corner, and for many Americans that means it’s time to shop (and eat) until you drop. Collecting savings and freebies on everything from retail to restaurants has become a highly anticipated Veterans Day tradition for many veterans and service members, and this year is no different.

At Military.com, we carefully curate and review hundreds of Veterans Day discounts to ensure they are current and accurate. But with so many available, it’s impossible to take advantage of every Veterans Day deal. That’s why we asked our readers to tell us their favorite Veterans Day discount—and they did. From in-store promotions to free food, you’ve shared your savings secrets with us.

Here are the best Veterans Day deals and discounts, according to veterans:

Texas Roadhouse

Our readers love celebrating Veterans Day with Texas Roadhouse! From its famous honey butter bread basket to hand-cut steaks, this restaurant was our respondents’ top choice. No wonder: Texas Roadhouse has a phenomenal Veterans Day deal. All current, active and veteran military members are invited to enjoy a complimentary entree, two sides and a non-alcoholic beverage, sweet tea, iced tea or coffee during the Veterans Day luncheon.

If you don’t have a Texas Roadhouse nearby, these other similar restaurants are also offering Veterans Day deals:

  • Outback Steakhouse: Enjoy a free Bloomin’ Onion and drink with the purchase of an entree. (Can’t make it to the Outback on Veterans Day? There’s a 10% military discount every day.)
  • Logan’s Roadhouse: Ask for the Veterans Day menu and choose a free entree at lunchtime on November 11th. Logan’s Roadhouse also often offers free meals to active military members and veterans on Memorial Day and the Fourth of July.
  • Sizzler: Choose a free lunch special of shrimp, chicken or steak on Veterans Day

Applebee’s

If you’re ready to eat well in the neighborhood, Applebee’s has the Veterans Day deal for you. On November 11th, choose a free lunch or dinner from a select menu featuring seven of our most popular entrees. You’ll also receive a $5 Bounce Back card, valid for three weeks after the holiday at all participating locations.

No Applebee’s nearby? Try one of these similar restaurants for a fantastic Veterans Day deal:

  • Ruby Tuesday: Enjoy a free Garden Bar, Smashburger or Cheeseburger entree any time during business hours on November 11th.
  • Chili’s: Choose a free entree from a select menu on Veterans Day.
  • Golden Corral: Beginning at 5 p.m. on Veterans Day, participating locations will host a Military Appreciation Night that includes free admission.

Home Depot

Every day is Veterans Day at Home Depot. Although Home Depot doesn’t technically offer an exclusive Veterans Day discount, they do offer a 10% military discount year-round. Our readers love this offer – perhaps because it also applies to spouses of military members and veterans. If you have access to an Army & Airforce Exchange or Navy Exchange, you can also take advantage of special pricing on Home Depot merchandise throughout the year.

Not near a Home Depot? Maybe you have a Lowe’s nearby. Similar to Home Depot, Lowe’s doesn’t offer a Veterans Day deal, but does offer a 10% military discount on select items year-round.

Starbucks

We know, we know: Starbucks hates the military, according to this chain email from 1993 that still appears sporadically on social media. We’ve all seen it. Of course, Starbucks doesn’t hate the military, as evidenced by their hiring initiatives, partnerships, and of course, Veterans Day promotion. Our readers love the coffee giant’s offer to offer active and veteran military members and their spouses a free large hot or iced coffee.

Try these coffee chains if Starbucks isn’t an option for you this Veterans Day:

  • Dunkin’: If you run at Dunkin’, be sure to grab your free donut on Veterans Day.
  • Einstein Bros. Bagels: Order a free hot or iced coffee in any size with your purchase on November 11th.
  • Tim Hortons: Show your military ID on November 11th and get a free donut.

Free car wash

Our readers love free car wash offers on Veterans Day. (After all, it’s always a bonus when someone else checks off a to-do item on your list!) Good thing there are so many regional chains offering free car wash services on November 11th:

  • Grace For Vets: Find a detailed list of offerings here. This organization is a coalition of car wash companies from around the world that give away free car washes to people with military connections.
  • Autobell: This Southeastern chain is offering a free ride-thru outside car wash for veterans on Veterans Day. Would you like to upgrade? You may receive equivalent credit for another car wash service.
  • Russell Speeder’s Car Wash: Get a free car wash at any location this Veterans Day weekend.

This is just a selection of the Veterans Day discounts available to you this year. That’s why we keep an up-to-date catalog of freebies and discounts – so you can easily browse the offers and choose the ones that appeal to you.
