NFL Injury Tracker Week 10: Trevor Lawrence questionable, Christian McCaffrey expected to return, CeeDee Lamb ‘coming right’

It appears that Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence will be out for the team’s game on Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings.

Head coach Doug Pederson said Lawrence was leaning toward not playing. If that’s the case, Mac Jones would go first.

We don’t know much about how Lawrence injured his shoulder or what’s wrong with it. In Week 9, he was in full swing against the Philadelphia Eagles, going 16 of 31 for 169 yards and two interceptions. He had two touchdowns, but both were rushing touchdowns, so neither of them significantly affected his throwing shoulder.

The Jaguars officially classified Lawrence as “questionable” in the injury report released Friday. When asked about his QB on Wednesday, Pederson said Lawrence is “sore” and will be limited in practice.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Lawrence is reportedly weighing treatment options for his shoulder and surgery is on the table. Rapoport said on X that while no surgery is currently scheduled, it is one of the options Lawrence is considering.

San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said Friday that Christian McCaffrey is “ready to go” for Sunday. McCaffrey is expected to make his season debut this week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after what Shanahan called a “great” performance in practice over the past two days.

The 49ers have listed him as “questionable” for Sunday, but Shanahan has repeatedly said McCaffrey should be ready to play if all goes well.

McCaffrey missed the entire season with Achilles tendonitis and calf strains. The first problems arose when he suffered a late scratch in Week 1. He was soon placed on injured reserve, and the timetable for his return to the field was unclear.

He was treated by a specialist in Germany in September and only returned to practice this week. He was listed as a limited participant in practice this week.

With McCaffrey out, the 4-4 Niners will struggle to repeat their success from last season due to the running back’s absence and other factors. Jordan Mason has handled the bulk of the running duties, racking up 685 rushing yards and three touchdowns while averaging 5.1 yards per carry (McCaffrey averaged 5.4 yards last season).

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, New Orleans Saints wide receiver Chris Olave is expected to be placed on injured reserve due to a concussion.

Olave suffered the head injury after an illegal blindside hit in Sunday’s loss to the Carolina Panthers. He was transported from the field and taken to hospital for further evaluation, but was ultimately released the same day.

The placement on IR means Olave will be out for at least four games. However, Olave is reportedly seeking expert opinion on his concussion from specialists, meaning he could be out for longer.

CeeDee Lamb has a bruised shoulder following the Dallas Cowboys’ loss to the Atlanta Falcons last week. He finished the game and was limited in practice, but he’s progressed enough that he’s confident he’ll be on the field against the Eagles.

“I feel like I’ve taken a big step over the course of the week in the last two or three days,” Lamb said. “But I’m fine, I was out running today, I got it right.”

Lamb, who has no plans to wear any braces, will get a new quarterback this week. With Dak Prescott out with a hamstring injury, Cooper Rush will take over as the starter as the Cowboys look to end their four-game losing streak.

“We socialized, we took a lot of reps outside of practice just talking, communicating and getting on the same page,” Lamb said. “I think this is very important given the situation ahead and I’m happy for him. We know what Coop can achieve, the self-confidence is still there.”

The Tennessee Titans will bring quarterback Will Levis back under center after he has been out since October 13th with a right shoulder injury.

“I’m incredibly competitive and want to be out there every week,” Levis said this week. “It sucks when you’re out there and you can’t play. Hopefully I can go this week. I was looking forward to it and I’m excited to go out there and lead our team.”

Levis was dealing with a second-degree AC sprain in his right shoulder and was sick from week to week. Mason Rudolph started Tennessee’s last three games, with the Titans going 1-2 in that span.
