WEEKEND EVENTS | PorchFest; Jax Fair; Super Girl Surf Pro Fest; Veterans Day parade and more

The 69th yearbook Jacksonville Fair in Downtown Jax runs through November 17th. Ride some rides, fill up on fair food, watch a pig race and enjoy music from The Oneders, Twin Suns, Faze Wave, The Instagators and more this weekend. Get tickets.

Try Greece in Jacksonville Greek Festival Friday through Sunday at St. John the Divine Greek Orthodox Church. Enjoy live music and dancing and of course lots of delicious Greek food.

The annual Jacksonville PorchFest returns to Springfield for its 10th anniversary on Saturday from noon to 8 p.m. Springfield residents transform their front porches into stages for two dozen musical performances that you can enjoy for free. Proceeds from the festival support public arts in Jacksonville’s Urban Core.

Over at Jax Beach, some of the world’s best professional surfers will be hitting the waves Super Girl Surf Pro and Festival. Surfing begins at 8 a.m. Friday at Jax Beach Pier. On Saturday, enjoy a DJ competition, inline and roller skating competitions, free fitness classes and an all-female concert program with headliners Joan Jett & The Blackhearts. The festivities conclude on Sunday with a skateboarding competition and a performance by CeeLo Green.

And in St. Augustine you celebrate history and culture Historic Lincolnville Festival. It begins on Friday at 7 p.m. with performances by the jazz band Double A and saxophonist Doug Carn. On Saturday there will be more live music, vendors, food trucks and a fried fish dinner. The event ends on Sunday with coffee drinking and gospel music in the park.

Not only is it a busy weekend, it’s also a long holiday weekend. Jacksonville will do it will honor its veterans with a parade downtown on Monday. The display of patriotism will include military officials, veterans groups, local high school marching bands and decorative floats. It starts at 11:01 a.m. on Water Street.
