Two years later, God of War Ragnarok PS5 and PS4 players are finally getting a fix for the game’s most annoying “feature” as it’s updated for PS5 Pro

Fans of God of War Ragnarok on PlayStation rejoice: the PS4 and PS5 versions of the game are finally receiving an update that adds an option to reduce the number of times your companions give you clues when solving puzzles.

Developer Sony Santa Monica announced the news via tweet yesterday, November 7, 2024. When the game launched it was met with critical and fan acclaim, but one feature was big People agreed it was annoying was how often Kratos’ companions gave him unsolicited clues when solving puzzles.

Kratos was never all brawn and no brains. Puzzles have been an integral part of the God of War series since the beginning, back in Greece when the Spartan had no companions to advise him. The fighting style may have changed, but he is still a clever man. If anything, he’s only gotten wiser with age.

PC gamers have this option back in September, before PS5 players. For most PC and console games, changes are made on PC first, so that’s nothing unusual, but it’s good to see that the PlayStation versions are now on equal footing.

While this is definitely my favorite part of the update, it’s not the only feature included. New audio descriptions make the game’s cinematics more accessible. However, this feature will not be integrated into general gameplay.

There are also PS5 Pro improvements for those who have already purchased one. You can play with high image quality and maintain a smooth frame rate of 60 frames per second. If 60 isn’t enough for you, there’s also a high frame rate mode for those with variable refresh rate monitors.
