Two Florida women arrested after shooting. The death of a photographer is livestreamed

Two women were arrested Friday in connection with the killing of a photographer, some of which was broadcast live on social media, police in Florida said.

Lakevia Davonna Pringle, 31, and Savon Chantay Tyler, 35, were taken into custody and charged in the death of Lauren Ashley Martin, a photographer who was shot Tuesday night after an argument outside a Sanford home.

Sanford police said there was an ongoing feud between Martin and Tyler. According to an amended arrest report for Tyler, on the night of the shooting, Martin allegedly live-streamed driving to Tyler’s home to confront her.

Tyler told investigators, according to the report, that she watched Martin’s livestream and left her home with a child’s baseball bat and a gun. She put the gun down before Martin drove to Tyler’s house, the report said.

Tyler said she hit Martin with the bat during the fight and Martin allegedly grabbed it and took it away from her, the arrest report said. Martin then allegedly approached Tyler with the bat, they say. Tyler said she grabbed her gun and fired two shots at Martin.

Martin, 34, was found lying on the street with multiple gunshot wounds and taken to the hospital, where she died, police said.

Martin’s family told Daytona Beach NBC affiliate WESH that she was a photographer and there had been a disagreement over the photos Martin took of Tyler.

“A family is grieving the loss of a loved one because someone chose to resolve a disagreement with violence,” Sanford Police Chief Cecil Smith said in a statement. “What sparked the argument between these two will not be remembered, but the loss of Lauren will stay with her family and friends forever. There are options other than violence.”

Pringle, Tyler’s girlfriend, reportedly livestreamed the fight on social media. Police said Tyler can be seen in the footage swinging the bat at Martin. Due to outdoor lighting conditions, the video becomes darker but the audio remains clear.

Police said in the video, Pringle can be heard “enticing” Tyler to “hit” Martin and “give her a shot,” the arrest report said. One shot can be heard in the video, followed by a second.

Tyler was taken into custody without incident and charged with first-degree intentional homicide. She pleaded not guilty, court documents said. Her attorney could not immediately be reached for comment Saturday.

Pringle turned himself in Friday and was charged with first-degree intentional homicide, police said. It is not clear whether she has hired a lawyer or filed a lawsuit.
