Liverpool vs Aston Villa: Premier League – live | Premier League

Important events

Tonight’s 5.30pm kick-off has just ended… and now how about this result… Brighton & Hove Albion 2-1 Manchester City. This is the four-time champions’ fourth consecutive defeat in all competitions. City haven’t been this bad since the spring of 2006, when Stuart Pearce was manager and Micah Richards was a breakthrough 18-year-old prodigy. That streak eventually ended with six losses, and as they managed that dismal sequence, they lost their next four as well. Don’t expect it to be the same again this time, although the next three games are against Spurs, Feyenoord and… Liverpool, who now have the chance to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table five points.

Slot also goes some way to explaining why Liverpool started slowly in most games this season and picked up the pace significantly in the second half. “There are a lot of things we can do better… the hurdle is pretty high for us… I see certain things being done better than us by other teams… you’re wondering which one?’… we’ll talk about that throughout the week … hopefully we continue to improve … that’s necessary in a difficult league like this … every team that comes here has that Feeling like it needs a special plan… The good thing for us is that it’s mostly the first time they’ve played it, so you could argue that it’s not an advantage for them to do that… but they I think It’s an advantage… in the first half we have to adapt a bit… then it’s a disadvantage for us that we’ve only worked together for three or four months, because when you work with a team for three or four years, you’ve done that faced any system…everyone just knows what to do…sometimes “We need a half-time for this now… but it’s a matter of time before we adapt more quickly.”

Arne Slot speaks to TNT Sports. “Everyone was mainly focused on our results, which were good… you also have a fun time when you work with people you really like and the staff and everyone in Liverpool have been very welcoming to me and my staff… if “Then you enjoy your time at the club… I expected Luis Diaz to do well, but the fact that it was so good was a bit of a surprise even for me… When you have four attackers like we do you’re always a little tempted, who should? also? play? …Cody has played so many games that we thought these three should be the best choice…we’ll know after the game if that was the right choice…every decision comes down to…confidence…how much they did last time… This is now the second time Curtis has been in the starting line-up… Macca had some rest in the League Cup game… Szoboszlai would have been a good choice too… Ideally we start the game the way we end it… but that’s easier said as finished… our opponent is also very fresh when the game starts.”

preamble

Liverpool, top of the table both at home and in Europe and with 14 wins from their first 16 games in all competitions this season, are well on their way. Things were going well for Aston Villa there for a while until they conceded a last-minute equalizer at home against Bournemouth. Since then they have lost three times in a row, albeit in three different competitions. But despite all that, Unai Emery’s struggling side remain sixth in the Premier League and right in the thick of things, so tonight’s showdown at Anfield still qualifies as a top-flight clash. When these people meet, there are usually goals – most recently 4-1 and 6-0 wins for Liverpool, a 5-0 and The 7-2 for Villa, a 3-3 draw in the last game – and although the kick-off time is a bit strange this evening, the anticipation is still building. Can you feel it? To borrow a line from the Great Danish Songbook: Saturday night the air gets hot, dee dee na na na. Kick-off is at 20:00 GMT. It’s on!
