Michigan State Trooper injured in overnight accident

JACKSON, Mich. (WILX) – Michigan State Police are investigating an overnight crash that sent a state trooper to the hospital Saturday.

In a post on the social media platform X, Michigan State Police said the accident occurred around 1:30 a.m. at the intersection of Michigan Ave. and Vand Dorn St. happened

Police said the two officers were on patrol on Michigan Ave. when a 66-year-old Spring Arbor man ignored the stop sign at Van Dorn and crashed into the side of the patrol car.

The officer in the passenger seat was taken to Henry Ford Hospital with minor injuries and has since been released. The other officer and the driver of the pickup truck were not injured.

Police said the accident remains under investigation and that alcohol appears to have played a role.
