Lubbock Fire Department emergency personnel are responding to the downtown fire, but the cause remains unknown

Firefighters battled a large structure fire in downtown Lubbock on Wednesday morning.

An AJ reporter on the scene reported seeing clouds of black smoke rising from a building near 7th Street and Buddy Holly Avenue around 10:30 a.m., and emergency crews blocked streets in the surrounding blocks.

At 11:30 a.m. the emergency services were still working on site and white smoke was rising from the building. No further details, including the cause of the fire, have been released at this time.
