Frankie Muniz was involved in a NASCAR accident during the Phoenix race

Actor and NASCAR driver Frankie Muniz was involved in a serious accident Friday at the Craftsman Truck Series Championship at Phoenix Raceway in Avondale, Arizona.

In a video posted by reporter Noah Lewis

Muniz confirmed he was fine when speaking to reporters after the race and gave insight into how he ended up in the “unfortunate” wreck.

“I had nowhere to go. “I was hit from behind,” he explained. “I got hit from behind in the 42… and the 18 stopped right there. I walked right into him.”

He also said he was grateful for his team and the experience he gained from Friday’s race.

“I felt like I had a good opportunity to run with a few guys, I made some passes,” he noted. “Losed a few places on restarts, then went back out and overtook them again.”

“So it was good for me to figure out how to get to people. You know, I haven’t really had much to do this year, so that’s been a really positive thing.”

Muniz, who rose to fame as a child by starring in the family sitcom “Malcolm in the Middle” between 2000 and 2006, also confirmed he will be back on the circuit next year.

“Next year we will be better and I have the whole offseason to prepare and we will get there,” he said enthusiastically.

Muniz made his NASCAR Xfinity Series debut earlier this year.

In October, he announced he would join Reaume Brothers Racing for a full-time spot to drive the No. 33 F-150 in the 2025 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, starting in February at Daytona International Speedway in Florida should.

He made his full-time NASCAR debut in January 2023 for Save Jones Racing in the fourth-tier NASCAR series.

“It has been my dream to race in NASCAR since I was a child, and it was important to me to work with a team that aligned with my long-term goals and vision while providing every possible opportunity to develop mentally and physically as a full-time athlete. Time racer,” he said in a statement at the time, per Deadline.

“I’m excited to not only showcase my skills on the track and show how serious I am about developing my racing career, but also to show my son and family what it means to pursue his dreams to pursue and reinvent yourself,” he added.

The Emmy nominee said in October when he announced his full-time stint on the Craftsman Truck Series in 2025 that it was easy to give up acting for racing.

“I’ve been working on this for literally 20 years,” he told Fox News’ “Fox & Friends” host Brian Kilmeade.

“If I want to compete full-time against riders who are living their lives, I have to be as committed as they are. I can’t work part-time,” he continued.

“You can’t act on the side and do that. If you want to be really, really good at anything, you have to work for it, and that’s what I do.”

Muniz said he became hooked on racing after finishing first in the 29th annual Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race in 2005.

According to his racing website, he took a break from acting in 2006 when he competed in the Formula BMW USA Championship.

He then took part in the ChampCar Atlantic Championship between 2007 and 2009.

He ended his driving career in 2009 when he sustained an injury that required multiple surgeries.
