Oregon’s high-powered offense (35 points per game) is led by senior quarterback Dillon Gabriel. He has rushed for 2,665 yards and 19 touchdowns with five interceptions. Gabriel touts a QBR of 88.2, the fourth highest in the country. His effectiveness carries over to the ground, where he has 139 carries for 120 rushing yards and six touchdowns.

Gabriel only needs one touchdown to break the NCAA career record of 178 total touchdowns set by Case Keenum. Gabriel has thrown for 17,530 career yards.

With Tez Johnson’s shoulder injury, the Ducks lost a dynamic part of their receiving core. It looks like he could return for the postseason. Johnson had 64 receptions for 649 yards and a team-leading eight touchdowns, averaging 10.1 yards per reception.

Evan Stewart has to pick up the slack. The junior has recorded 31 receptions for 462 yards and four touchdowns, averaging 14.9 yards per reception. Senior receiver Traeshon Holden has 28 receptions for 462 yards and three touchdowns, an average of 16.5 yards per reception.

Oregon’s running game is led by junior running back Jordan James, who has hauled in 159 carries for 917 yards and nine touchdowns. Junior Noah Whittington is also a force, carrying 72 carries for 306 yards and four touchdowns.

The Ducks tout the No. 17 pass defense in the country, allowing 172.8 yards per game. Oregon is also the 10th-best defense in the FBS, allowing 15.8 points per game. Senior defensive back Tysheem Johnson has 21 solo tackles and two interceptions.

Sophomore defensive end Matayo Uiagalelei recorded 14 solo tackles and 5.5 sacks with one forced fumble, while junior defensive lineman Derrick Harmon recorded 16 solo tackles, three sacks and two forced fumbles.

It’s the third time the Ducks have started a season 9-0. As the best team in the country, they are 8-1 all-time.

The Terrapins (4-4, 1-4) have had a roller coaster ride in the expanded Big Ten this year. It was mostly uphill as they outscored a total of 68 points in conference play. Their previous game was a loss to the Minnesota Golden Gophers (48-23). Maryland has lost three of its last four games.

The Terrapins are pass-heavy, averaging 41.9 pass attempts per game. They score almost 29 points per game.

Junior quarterback Billy Edwards Jr. rushed for 2,314 yards and 13 touchdowns with six interceptions.

His top target, senior receiver Tai Felton, has recorded 73 receptions for 907 yards and six touchdowns in the Big Ten. His mileage ranks sixth in the country.

Senior receiver Kaden Prather has snagged 45 receptions for 487 yards and three touchdowns, averaging 10.8 yards per reception.

Second-year tight end Dylan Wade has 19 receptions for 254 yards and two touchdowns. He hasn’t scored a goal in three games.

The Terrapins have turned to junior running back Roman Hemby for their ground attack. He caught 86 carries for 403 yards and four touchdowns. Freshman back Nolan Ray has 52 carries for 252 yards and two touchdowns.

Maryland’s defense allows nearly 28 points per game.

Junior linebacker Caleb Wheatland has 17 solo tackles and three sacks, while senior defensive lineman Glendon Miller has 18 solo tackles and three interceptions. Gabriel had problems with losing the ball in the field at the beginning of this season. Maryland is hoping Miller brings those back.

The last time Maryland beat the nation’s No. 1 team was UCLA in 1955.
