Alabama Crimson Tide football schedule, results, playoff chances after LSU win

Alabama football fans need to take another look at the standings and rankings. With Saturday night’s commanding win at LSU and victory over the Tigers in Death Valley, the Crimson Tide re-established themselves as legitimate contenders for the Southeastern Conference and national titles.

But Alabama (7-2, 4-2 SEC) still has two losses on its record, so it must first win its final three games of the regular season. No. 7 Tennessee, No. 5 Texas and No. 14 Texas A&M all have a loss in league play, giving them the edge heading into Atlanta for the SEC Championship Game. No. 16 Ole Miss (8-2, 4-2) is also still in play, with only Florida and Mississippi State missing. However, Georgia hosts Tennessee next week and the Lone Star teams close out the season against each other in College Station.

The path to the 12-team College Football Playoff is more direct for the Crimson Tide. Alabama was No. 11 last week and could move back into a safe win-and-in position. The SEC expects to have three, if not four teams in the CFP field, plus the Crimson Tide is coming off an impressive head-to-head win over Georgia.

Two of Alabama’s final games of the regular season come against quality opponents:

November 16: Mercer, 1 p.m. CT, ESPN+/SEC Network+

November 23: in Oklahoma, TBA

November 30: Auburn, TBA
