Frankie Muniz limps to ambulance after multi-truck accident during NASCAR race: ‘Hard hit’

Frankie Muniz remains positive after hobbling away following a multi-vehicle accident at a NASCAR race on Friday.

The 38-year-old actor turned professional race car driver was involved in an accident at Phoenix Raceway while competing in the Craftsman Truck Series Championship in Avondale, Arizona.

After the accident, sportscaster Noah Lewis shared a video of Muniz in which the “Malcom in the Middle” alum could be seen limping and hunched over as he was pulled into an ambulance at the track. In his post on X, formerly Twitter, Lewis wrote that Muniz had suffered a “hard blow.”

After the race, Muniz told reporters that he was fine, adding that the accident was “unfortunate.”

“I felt like I had a good opportunity to run with some guys,” Muniz said in a clip shared on X.

He continued: “I made a few passes. I lost a few places on restarts, then went back out and overtook them again. So it was good for me to figure out how to get past people. You know, I haven’t really done it yet.” I’ve done so much this year, it’s been really positive.

“And then we just wanted to keep going, I wanted to keep running. But I had nowhere to go and I got hit from behind,” Muniz explained. “I got hit from behind in the 42 and then the 42 was moved and the 18 stopped right there and I went right into it. But I don’t feel like I could have done anything there. That was a lucky situation.” Not to survive it, but it is unfortunate.

However, Muniz said he is already looking forward to the 2025 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season, where he will compete as a full-time driver of the No. 33 Ford F-150 with the Reaume Brothers Racing team.

This season he competed in several races alongside Reaume Brothers as the driver of the No. 27 F-150.

“I’m so thankful for my team,” Muniz said. “And I’m so excited for next season. This year wasn’t what we were hoping for, but it proved that I can race with the guys, I can compete here. We’re going to be better next year, and I have that. We’re going to be preparing for this all offseason.

During an appearance on “Fox & Friends” last month, Muniz shared his excitement about being promoted to full-time driver for next year’s season.

He also shared, “If I’m going to do this, I want to be 100 percent committed to it… do everything I can to be prepared for the races and be the best racer I can be.”

When Muniz was asked about putting acting on hold and focusing on racing, he admitted, “I wouldn’t say it was a hard decision.”

“This is something I’ve been working towards for literally 20 years, since I started racing when I did my first race,” he said, explaining that “the feeling of crossing the finish line first “Crossing” was a big success for the first time. I have the feeling that he has been “hunting” ever since.

“If you want to be really, really good at anything, you have to work for it, and that’s what I do. I hope my performance proves that on the track and hopefully we can get to the top 10s and top 5 and hopefully win races next year.”
