Fantasy football flex flyers: Add Xavier Legette, Tyjae Spears for Week 10 and Audric Estime for later

Each week, I’ll help you address lineup concerns after a week of waivers in your fantasy football league. The listing here includes players who may have remained in free agency after the initial waiver push and can still be picked up and used in some difficult situations.

Players are listed in order of preferred additions/starts and analysis is based on PPR scoring formats. I’ll also end with a player who is generally available and should be added immediately. You will know why after you finish reading this article.

Xavier Legette, WR, CAR (59 percent): The Panthers recently traded away two WRs, clearing the way for Legette to serve as the team’s new No. 1 WR. The Giants rank 24th in fantasy points per game (FPPG) allowed to WRs. Bryce Young is starting to show signs of improvement and Legette will at least have decent fantasy totals with a healthy number of targets. He has caught TD passes in three of his last four games.

Wan’Dale Robinson, WR, NYG (58 percent): Robinson’s production has declined over the last three games, but he is on a resting spot this week for fantasy purposes. The Giants face the worst defense in the NFL and Darius Slayton (concussion) will also be out against Carolina. The first two entries in this week’s article are from the worst game of Week 10, but might actually give you reasons to watch Sunday’s early game in Munich.

Tyjae Spears, RB, TEN (49 percent): Despite overcoming a foot problem last week, Tony Pollard was reportedly downgraded from a limited workout on Wednesday to a no-practice workout on Thursday. Spears returned from a hamstring injury and was able to train fully on Thursday. He’s a potentially exciting and versatile artist who could show some potential with a heavier workload.

The Chargers allow the fewest FPPGs to RBs, but if you need an RB plug-in, Spears is a viable pickup because of the volume he can make. If you are looking for a final week streamer and the selection is smaller, the players to add are certainly not an ideal option, so you have to decide on the possible volume and take the risk of the matchup here.

If Pollard can play, Spears could still produce some decent results with a shared workload.

Rakim Jarrett, WR, TB (1 percent): The Tampa Bay WR corps has been completely decimated by injuries, and Jarrett may have to play a major role in the Buccaneers’ offense in Week 10. Last week, he played in 84 percent of the snaps and caught three passes for 58 yards in his season debut in the previous game after recovering from offseason knee surgery.

Continue to monitor the Buccaneers WR situation ahead of game day against San Francisco. Jarrett and Trey Palmer could be candidates to serve as top WRs for Baker Mayfield. The depth chart is subject to change depending on the availability of the other Tampa Bay WRs, particularly Jalen McMillan and Sterling Shepard, who had not practiced as of Thursday.

Tyler Allgeier, RB, ATL (77 percent): I don’t normally include players who have such a high roster share in this article, but I have seen Allgeier on the free agent list in some leagues. The Saints have allowed 10 rushing TDs against RBs, second-most in the NFL, and the Falcons could drop a big hammer on them this week. Both Bijan Robinson and Allgeier could find the end zone against New Orleans.

Roschon Johnson, RB, CHI (55 percent): In a matchup against New England, Johnson could get a few chances to turn TD opportunities into goal-line packages. Before last week, he scored four touchdowns in a four-game span. The Patriots are another team that ranks 31st in the NFL with 10 rushing TDs allowed to RBs. They have allowed five in the last four weeks.

Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, WR, TEN (16 percent): The Chargers pass defense is impressive. However, Westbrook-Ikhine has caught TD passes in four straight games. Such a winning streak will surely fizzle out at some point, but Calvin Ridley will attract a lot of defensive attention and NWI can benefit from it.

Jalen Coker, WR, CAR (10 percent): Coker, another first-year Carolina WR to consider, was quiet last week after showing promise with 78 receiving yards in Week 9. The Giants are not an intimidating opponent for the Panthers as long as Young can withstand their pass rush. For those looking deeper for a lineup plugger, Coker is worth considering.

Audric Estime, RB, DEN (12 percent): The Broncos need to make a change at RB as Javonte Williams is averaging 3.8 yards per carry and Bo Nix leads the team with four rushing TDs. There’s been a lot of buzz locally in Denver that it’s time to give this rookie a chance to breathe life into a weak-bottom game.

Estime was drafted in the fifth round by the Broncos this year, but he was described as a powerback with some speed who can help balance the offense. I usually feature plug-and-play guys in this space, but I want to give readers a head start if Estime is still available in their leagues.

Grab the 5-foot-10, 220-pound man now and see if his role expands as early as this week. The Chiefs are obviously in a tough matchup, and this post is more about taking advantage of others who overlook Estime on the first waiver run.
