Whey Jennings Honors Those Who Make the Ultimate Sacrifice with Video for “One Folded”

“One Folded” can be heard on Whey Jennings’ latest album Jekyll & Hyde released last summer. Written by Marlon L. Raybon, Michael Anthony Curtis and Gordon MaGee, the song reflects why the flag means so much to those who serve.

“The flag is more than just a piece of fabric,” says Jenning. “It represents the lives of everyone who has played their part in making this country what it is today. Every time a soldier dies for this country, their family receives a folded flag. And every time someone disrespects the flag, they disrespect that sacrifice.”

He released the new music video for “One Folded” just in time for Veterans Day. It honors the sacrifices of service members and the families they leave behind.

“There’s a lot of emotion in it. “It was important to me that the video was as impactful as the song itself,” says Jennings.

He hopes it might inspire people to come together.

“We live in a time of great division in this country. I felt like we needed a song that reminded us that we are all Americans. Folded flags hang all over the country. I see them everywhere I go, in homes and establishments. In a time of war, each of us could be reminded of what our flag truly represents if, God forbid, we were ever to see one folded.”

Jennings is a singer/songwriter and also the grandson of the late Waylon Jennings. He battled drugs and alcohol for years and later launched his music career with a desire to share some of the hard lessons he’s learned in life, as well as his deep appreciation for the things he values most: his faith, his family etc his country. Through his music, he wants to encourage others to overcome drug addiction like he did, while honoring a country that he believes is the land of opportunity.

He says America has apparently become much more patriotic in recent years and he would like it to be that way again.

“Remember when there were flyers with pictures of Uncle Sam everywhere? When was the last time you heard Uncle Sam mentioned?”

And yet every day he meets people who truly love this country and everything it stands for.

“As you travel around the country, shaking hands and meeting people in person, you realize pretty quickly that what you see in the media and on the Internet is not a true reflection of America. I see a lot of good people doing great things.”

Jennings will celebrate Veterans Day in Mobile, Alabama, where he will sing “One Folded” in a joint performance with the Mobile Symphonic Pops Band. The annual Veterans Day concert begins November 11th at 7 p.mTh) at the Medal of Honor Aircraft Pavilion at Battleship Memorial Park.
