Jacksonville State 44-37 Louisiana Tech (November 9, 2024) Game Recap

Tre Stewart ran for 166 yards and two touchdowns and his 11-yard scoring run in overtime gave Jacksonville State a 44-37 victory over Louisiana Tech on Saturday.

After Louisiana Tech’s overtime possession, J-Rock Swain sacked Bulldogs quarterback Evan Bullock on fourth-and-2 to end the game.

Jacksonville State (6-3, 5-0 Conference USA) forced overtime when Tyler Huff completed a 49-yard Hail Mary to Cam Vaughn to make it 37:31 with four seconds left in regulation.

With three wide receivers on the right side, Huff escaped the pressure, deviated to the right and launched the ball. Vaughn slid behind the defense and caught the ball without having to jump. However, Garrison Rippa pushed the extra point attempt to the left to bring about overtime.

Huff threw for 200 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. He also ran 42 yards and reached the end zone on the ground. Vaughn finished the game with 130 yards receiving on seven catches and two touchdowns.

The Gamecocks built a 21-7 lead before the Bulldogs stepped up their defense and took the lead to 37-28 with 10:20 left in regulation when Marquis Crosby put the ball in play from the 4.

Bullock threw for 266 yards and three touchdowns for Louisiana Tech (3-6, 2-4). Tru Edwards had 142 yards receiving and two touchdowns.
