4 games, 4 goals: The One Man United star is loving life under Ruud van Nistelrooy

Man United took a 2-0 lead at half-time in their Premier League game against Leicester City thanks to the magic of Bruno Fernandes.

The Manchester club celebrated their captain’s 250th appearance ahead of their game against the Foxes at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon, as the Portuguese star has been a brilliant servant for the Red Devils since his arrival from Sporting CP in 2020.

The 30-year-old marked the occasion by scoring the opener against Leicester when the midfielder struck a fine shot just outside the away team’s penalty area with 17 minutes left.

The Man United captain also played a role in Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side doubling their lead before half-time when Leicester’s Victor Kristiansen fired the ball into his own net, making it a very busy second 45 minutes for the Foxes difficult task.

Fernandes is a man who thrived under Van Nistelrooy’s leadership at Old Trafford and that shows in the midfielder’s statistics.

Fernandes was one of many Man United stars criticized for their performances in the opening stages of the 2024/25 season as the Red Devils side struggled for form under Erik ten Hag. But since the Dutch coach was fired, the Portuguese international has been on fire.

Accordingly Squawkathe 30-year-old hadn’t scored a goal in his first 13 games under Ten Hag; Since Van Nistelrooy took over as interim manager of the Manchester team, the 30-year-old has scored four goals in his last four games.

The Dutch coach appears to have got the best out of his captain and that has worked to United’s advantage as the Red Devils haven’t lost a game in the lead-up to Ruben Amorim’s takeover at Old Trafford.
