The Jaguars’ Trevor Lawrence is suffering from a severe AC joint sprain in his left shoulder and will not play against the Vikings

Sources say surgery is possible for Lawrence, but the current plan includes rest and rehab. The team called him daily, but week after week is probably a more accurate description. Regardless of whether Lawrence plays forward, the injury is expected to limit him over the next few weeks.

Some players with similar injuries end up needing surgery – Anthony Richardson is an example from last year, but that should repair his throwing shoulder. Other players play with it all their lives without any problems by simply managing it. But it may not heal completely on its own.

And now Jones enters the group.

Jones, who came from New England last offseason, is said to love Jacksonville, the system and the coaches. He has spent the last six months rebuilding his confidence after a difficult time with the Patriots. He worked overtime in Texas this summer, trying to find his old self with his QB coach Joe Dickinson.

Jones now has the opportunity to make it all work.

“I have a lot of confidence (in Jones),” Pederson said Friday. “He is someone who prepares extremely hard and very well. He’s a smart boy. Think about the preseason and what he did back then, in terms of preparation and all that, and how he played. He will be fine. “He will be excited about the home game, the home crowd, the home fans, his people, so to speak.”
