The Steelers activate inside linebacker Tyler Matakevich and wide receiver Ben Skowronek

The Pittsburgh Steelers received a special team boost for Sunday’s game at the Washington Commanders with the activation of inside linebacker Tyler Matakevich and wide receiver Ben Skowronek.

Matakevich, a nine-year veteran, has been out since Sept. 15 with a hamstring injury and was placed on injured reserve two days later. He returned to practice on October 24 but did not play against the New York Giants.

Skowronek appeared in the first two games of the regular season, but suffered a shoulder injury and had been on injured reserve since September 18. He returned to training on Wednesday.

To make room on the active roster, the Steelers released safety Terrell Edmunds and running back Jonathan Ward.
