New York Jets vs. Arizona Cardinals game thread

The New York Jets are in Glendale, Arizona today to take on the Arizona Cardinals. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:25 p.m. EST.

After losing three of their first four games to start the season, the Arizona Cardinals came back roaring, winning four of their last five and taking first place in the NFC West Division. The Cardinals have an excellent rushing attack, which could prove problematic for a suspect Jets rushing defense. The Cardinals have rushed for more than 169 yards in five of their nine games this season. On the other hand, the Cardinals defense is pretty bad. They have given up more than 150 rushing yards in five of their last seven games. Additionally, the Cardinals have a poor pass rush and some of the worst cornerbacks in the NFL, making the team vulnerable on defense. The Cardinals rank 24th in the NFL in yards allowed and 28th in first downs allowed, giving the Jets’ offense some room to be successful in today’s game.

The Jets have not played well this season, with two games where they played a good half and one game where they played a good four quarters. These three games are the Jets’ three wins so far. The Jets’ six losses ranged from mediocre to terrible.

There are some reasons for optimism. The Jets get their entire starting offense back today. Newly acquired receiver Davante Adams is starting to settle in. Garrett Wilson is playing the best football of his career. Breece Hall has been looking much better lately after a terrible start to the season. Interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich may be starting to figure things out as the new head coach. Haason Reddick is starting to play well after holding out for most of the season. Quinnen Williams appears to be back in Pro Bowl form after a slow start to the season. In short, there are several signs that a turnaround for the Jets could be imminent. But signs are one thing, victories are quite another. Let’s see if the Jets have what it takes to actually pick up wins, starting today against a good Cardinals team.
