No. 1 hitmaker who performed at halftime of the Lions’ Thanksgiving game

Ford Field will be “Tipsy” when this artist takes the field at halftime on November 28th.

This year’s halftime entertainment at the Detroit Lions’ Thanksgiving game will be a little “tipsy.”

Shaboozey, whose hit single “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” spent 16 consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, will perform at the Lions-Bears game at Ford Field on Nov. 28, team officials announced Sunday.

In a social media post, the artist was seen wearing a Detroit Lions jersey that read “Shaboozey” at Ford Field. “Let’s go, baby,” he says, arms outstretched in front of the stadium’s video screen.

Shaboozey, born Collins Chibueze, was in town on Wednesday, opening for Jelly Roll at its sold-out concert at Little Caesars Arena.

The 29-year-old Virginia native was nominated for multiple Grammys this week, including Best New Artist and “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” – his country-tinged party song based on the bones of St. Louis rapper J- Kwon’s 2004 hit “Tipsy” is nominated for Song of the Year, Best Country Song and Best Country Solo Performance. Shaboozey is also nominated for best melodic rap performance for “Spaghettii,” his track with Beyoncé and Linda Martell on Beyoncé’s “Cowboy Carter.”

“A Bar Song (Tipsy)” debuted at the top of the Hot 100 in July and is currently tied with Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men’s Luis Fonsi’s “One Sweet Day” for the second-longest stay at No. 1 in Hot history 100 , Daddy Yankee and Justin Bieber’s “Despacito” and Morgan Wallen’s “Last Night.” Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road” is the all-time record holder with 19 weeks on top.

Last year’s halftime entertainer for the Lions’ Thanksgiving contest was Jack Harlow. In recent years, Bebe Rexha (2022), Big Sean (2021 and 2015), Mike Posner (2018), Kid Rock (2012) and Mariah Carey (2005) have taken the stage.

Kickoff for the game, which will be broadcast on CBS, is 12:30 p.m

Last month, it was announced that country singer Lainey Wilson would headline this year’s Dallas Cowboys Thanksgiving halftime show.
