Check out Ariana Grande’s Glinda in her Old Hollywood look

If there’s one thing Ariana Grande has made clear this year, it’s that she absolutely loves all things Evil. A long-time fan of the musical, the pop star was overjoyed (or should we say rainbow?) back in 2021 to join the project as Glinda, the Good Witch. Three years later, the film is finally in theaters — and as Grande’s press tour showed, she’s still as big a fan as ever.

Her enchanting appearance at the Los Angeles premiere last night was the perfect tribute to the musical with its variety of subtle fashion stylesEvil And Wizard of Oz References. She wore a strapless dress with a figure-hugging corset bodice and a glamorous hoop skirt with a slightly irregular hem. The silhouette was, of course, a nod to the iconic dress her character wore in the film. And yes, the dress was, of course, Glinda pink – but it also had a soft gingham print based on Dorothy’s famous plaid dress from the original Wizard of Oz Film.

Grande paired the dress with a matching bolero and matching gloves and wore a matching bow in her hair, which was slicked back into a bun. She completed the look with a pair of silver sparkly heels and pearl stud earrings. Overall, these details gave the look a touch of Audrey Hepburn-esque Old Hollywood glamour, perhaps in another subtle nod to the original Wizard of Oz.

Keeping her makeup soft with a few pops of pink and her signature cat eye, Grande seemed to reference her Evil character again. As the actress said in a recent behind-the-scenes video, “Glinda’s makeup kind of made me change my whole look and my whole relationship with makeup. “I just love it so much,” she said, adding, “There’s no thick eyeliner,” there’s no heavy crease, it’s just very warm and open and pretty and, you know, the lashes are in a cat shape, what Still gives you the cat-eye lift I usually love, but it’s also just a more honest representation of what you look like.

Grande was joined on the red carpet by her co-star Cynthia Erivo, who also paid homage to her character Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West, wearing a dramatic neon green midriff-cut latex maxi dress with a matching feathered cape that she wrapped around her carried arms.

Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth, who originated the roles of Elphaba and Glinda on Broadway, were also in attendance.

This is far from the first time Grande has channeled her Glinda energy during the year Evil Press tour. Back in April, she wore a whimsical pink minidress that looked like a giant flower. Last month she opted for a bright pink Mugler dress SNL Look teamed with an ethereal white lace dress on WSJ. magazine Innovator Awards. At the film’s Australian premiere earlier this month, she wore an ethereal pink tulle dress and looked like she had literally just stepped out of her character’s famous bubble.
