A pedestrian injured in a crash in Mashpee has died, police said

Police said the victim, who has not been publicly identified, died early Saturday morning.

The pedestrian injured in a car crash in Mashpee that also killed a dog died early Saturday morning, authorities said.

Mashpee police said in a news release posted on Facebook that they responded to Job’s Fishing Road around 7:21 a.m. Friday after reports of a pedestrian struck by a car. There, police said, a pedestrian was found lying on the street with “serious injuries.”

First responders took the victim to Falmouth Hospital, the statement said. Police also found a dog the pedestrian was walking with and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver remained on scene during the investigation, police said.

In the social media post, Mashpee police expressed their “deepest” condolences to the victim and his family. The victim has yet to be publicly identified, but police said an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
