The Wolves lost 95:94 to the Butler-less Heat at home and showed that this was a problem for them

The trouble for the Wolves began with a late substitution before the Heat arrived. Finch replaced Rudy Gobert in a defense-friendly lineup and replaced him again with Conley, who only protected the inbounder on the play.

“I’m pretty good at this and I live for these moments,” Gobert said. “This is what I do best. I was certainly frustrated, but decisions. The coach made decisions and we live with them.”

The Heat ran a series of screens between the three-point line and halfcourt, and both Conley and Nickeil Alexander-Walker said their strategy in that situation was not to turn on the screens before the ball went into play.

But in the replay it looks like Edwards was caught on a screen and Alexander-Walker had to dodge Nikola Jović, who took a step towards him. Jović ran to the basket and got the layup and a foul on Alexander-Walker.

“I was a little hesitant to just leave,” Alexander-Walker said. “I think at this point, with the timing situation and everything, all bets are off I guess and you just have to embrace it. When I read it late, I probably should have just wrapped it up at that point, but I tried to make a reference to it.”
